About Us

Middleton Fire and Lightning Insurance Company was formed in Wisconsin on January 4, 2021 by a group of individuals, with the idea of providing fire and lightning coverage for eight local communities. After several mergers, including a name change to Middleton Insurance Company we now provide insurance in Columbia, Dane, Dodge, Grant, Green, Iowa, Jefferson, Lafayette, Rock and Sauk counties. We belong to such organizations as Wisconsin Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (WAMIC), National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC), and Cooperative Network (which represents the recent merger of Wisconsin and Minnesota Federation of Cooperatives). Middleton Insurance Company is protected by a comprehensive reinsurance program, as explained below, to handle catastrophic claims. We are also protected by The Policyholders Mutual Insurance Company, which is a solvency fund for town mutuals in Wisconsin.

Reinsurance

Wisconsin Statutes and Administrative Code require mutual insurance companies, such as ours, to obtain reinsurance protection. Middleton Insurance Company uses Wisconsin Reinsurance Corporation (WRC) for reinsurance. WRC markets to a broad spectrum of mutual insurance companies in the Midwest. With many years of experience in designing and implementing reinsurance contracts to fit a company's needs, WRC is acknowledged as a leader in the mutual reinsurance marketplace. To learn more about WRC history, financials including current ratings, services, client listing and etc. go to http://www.thewrcgroup.com/wrc/about/financials.php.
